With prayers for health and safety, beginning tomorrow, Friday, March 20, 2020, at the direction of the Saskatchewan Government, we will close our schools to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
From Friday, March 20 until Friday, March 27, we will pause all school operations. We want you to stay home. We want our staff to stay home.
We know you have questions. We still have more questions than answers. We are waiting for direction from the Saskatchewan Government's Response Planning Team. So far, the updates we have which impact our families are:
- We expect that teachers will have opportunities to continue learning activities after March 27. You don't need to rush and finalize grades. There will still be opportunities for students to progress on the mark they have at this time. We are not closing off the school year at this time.
- In the upcoming week, as recommended by the Chief Medical Health Officer, it is most important for staff to pause, be able to enact social distancing and focus on the care and well-being of themselves and their families. Further direction will be coming from school divisions in term of plans for next steps in the context of the COVID-19 response.
- While the suspension of classes has been deemed to be indefinite, it is not known what timeframe will be involved as this will depend on decisions made by Saskatchewan's Chief Medical Health Officer.
Thank you for staying informed, and checking your email inboxes and www.rcsd.ca regularly for updates.
As has been stated numerous times, the situation is fluid. We appreciate your patience and calm. A reminder to visit www.Saskatchewan.ca/Coronavirus for all your COVID-19 related details, direct from the source.
Finally, let us remember to pray through this.
Do not fear, for I am with you,
do not be afraid, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
