As many of you have begun to receive your tax invoices, we wanted to help clarify a question that a few have inquired around the tax increases noted on their bills.
The provincial budget released March 22 of this year included many changes. Families are noticing that one of those changes is an increase in education property taxes collected by the City of Regina on behalf of Regina Catholic Schools. While the City does collect these taxes on our behalf, the amount of the tax increase was determined by the Provincial Government by means of the Education mill rates.
The Regina Catholic School Division does not set the education mill rate, and has no control over the amount property owners are being charged.
We hope that will help explain question many of you have been asking.
Thank you all for your continued support of our schools.
