Teacher Librarian: Mrs. T. Cromary-Zech

Tobi.PNGThe Library at St. Jerome is full of resources! We service all students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8. We have plenty of resources and new books coming in all of the time. Also, we continue to add more books on the Regina Catholic Schools Overdrive on-line library. Students are beginning to be introduced to using Overdrive.

We host a variety of Literacy evenings and Mathletics nights. We have snacks and draws with some amazing prizes. Families of all grades are welcome to attend. In November of each year, we have an annual Scholastic Book Fair. We host authors and Storytellers and have connections with the Regina Public Library.

Grades 5-8 can try out for a Battle of the Books team. Battle of the Books is an exciting type of reading club that uses a game show format to challenge teams' knowledge of eight pre-selected books from a variety of authors and genres. Teams of students are asked questions based on the characters, plots, themes and settings of the books. Teams consist of four students from Grade 5-8. Students in each team read all of the pre-selected titles, or each team member takes responsibility for selected titles. Points are scored by correctly identifying the titles and authors of the books.

Battle of the Books will begin in January. Zone tournaments and the City Championship are in March.
