Miss Mary Catherine Flynn spent 16 of her 28 year teaching career with Regina Catholic Separate School District. During this period, she served the district loyally and competently as a teacher, consultant, and principal. She was appointed principal of St. Joan of Arc when it opened in 1975, a position which she held until serious illness forced her to resign in 1977.
To commemorate Mary Flynn, an award was presented each year in her name to a grade 8 student who demonstrated General Proficiency. This means that the recipient of the award must hold the highest overall academic average. This no longer is done.
