St. Kateri Tekakwitha School
Principal's Greeting

September 6, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We look forward to another wonderful year at St. Kateri! Our young and vibrant school community continues to grow and this year we opened two additional classrooms. Once again, it's been a very busy of summer of construction preparing for our new students and staff.

Mme D'Arcy Brischuk is joining us as Vice-Principal. Mme Brischuk brings with her a wealth of experience as a French Immersion teacher and administrator. She is a familiar face for many as a long time member of the St. Pius community. Ms. Monique Findlay is joining our office team and stepping into the busy role of office manager. Welcome!

We are blessed with a dedicated and talented group of teachers. Many thanks to the staff for their hard work this summer decorating classrooms and planning interesting lessons. A staff list is posted on our website.

The theme for Regina Catholic Schools again this school year is "Let Your Light Shine/ Que votre lumière brille." During the year, we'll work as a school community to put this theme and our faith into action. We are also celebrating 50 years of French Immersion Education. A number of special events are planned to mark the occasion – stay tuned for details.

We will once again continue with the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program. This program engages staff with all students in reinforcing positive behaviours. Our hope is that we can promote school expectations in a positive and proactive way and encourage student engagement through building staff/student relationships. A copy of our Behaviour Matrix is posted on our website along with an important letter about the program under the SWPBS tab.

We'll be using our school website as our main tool for communicating important information so check the site regularly: Links to our Twitter and Instagram accounts can be found at the bottom of the page. Occasionally, we may use Synervoice to email or call to relay information quickly.

Please consider joining our St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Community School Council (CSCC) or simply attending our meetings. The CSCC is the official parent/community voice within our school and consists of appointed members and elected members who have voting rights. Our meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at the school starting at 6:45. Meetings are open and I encourage you to attend to be part of our discussions. Further information is posted on our website. If you have questions, contact Jennifer Augustin, the CSCC Chair, at

Our playground is installed and it's a rocking place!  Many thanks to our Playground Committee, our CSCC, St. Kateri staff and all our dedicated families and supporters. This project was years in the making and we're thrilled to see it come to fruition.

I wish all St. Kateri Tekakwitha staff, students and families a wonderful school year!

Educating in Christ,

Monica Norris
