Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!
As we enter February, we look forward to more learning, honouring St. Valentine by showing love and friendship to one another, and spending Family Day with those closest to us!
"Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another.
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us." John 4:11-12
We are blessed by a staff of nearly 1,200 at Regina Catholic Schools. February brings us some time to show our appreciation for the teachers and staff in our schools during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week February 9-15, 2020. Please take some time to think about the educators and adults in your life who shaped you into the person you are today. Who are those people in your child(ren)'s life? Let us together lift them up in prayer, share with them our sincere gratitude, and make sure education is a clear priority. Today's students are tomorrow's doctors, labourers, lawyers, business owners, artists, world leaders, and even teachers. Those sitting and learning in our classrooms right now are the future, and the people working together to ensure their success have answered a call to the vocation of education. We welcome all families to share a note of thanks with their schools to celebrate Teacher/Staff Appreciation.
We, like you, are anxious to hear about the results of the Theodore Court Case Appeal. To learn more about this threat to Catholic education, and find out how you can help defend parental choice, please visit opencatholiceducation.ca. The Regina Catholic School Board and the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association are working together to protect your choice in your family's education. We hope to share successful results of our appeal soon.
As we move into the month of February, we wish our high school students every success in their second semester, which starts on Monday, February 3. Teachers' Institute is February 7, so there will be no school for elementary students. We hope you all will enjoy some time together as a family during the February break. There will be no school for any students the week of February 17-21.
Happy Valentine's Day on February 14th!
