Greetings Mustangs Families!
I hope that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving long weekend with your family. My October
message is delayed because I wanted to share two very important pieces of information with
First, I want to thank our Mustangs families for your help in making our 3
rd Annual St.
Marguerite Bourgeoys Walk-A-Thon the most successful event yet! Our first Walk-a-thon in
2017 raised $11,827.94 . . . Our second event in 2018 raised $11,509.11 . . . and . . .
This year, our students and families fundraised $14, 026.89!!
All we can say is . . . WOW . . . and a big thank you. The event on October 3rd went very
smoothly, and thankfully, the weather cooperated with us this year! The staff at St. Marguerite
want to sincerely and humbly thank our CSCC for running such a well-planned and smoothly
run fundraising event. The funds they raise for our school support instruction, school
community events and playground needs. We are truly blessed to have such a devoted
committee of people who care about our school community. We are equally blessed to have
families who so eagerly support the efforts of our CSCC.
Second, I want to share the results of our survey for student led conference format.
70.59% of families prefer conferences are held during two evenings from 4:00 to 8:00p.m.
17.65% of families prefer conferences are held on the Thursday evening and Friday
11.76% of families have no preference
As such, we will go ahead with planning conferences on the evenings of November 20th and 21st
from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be no school for students or teachers on November 22nd
Within two to three weeks of our conference dates, you will be invited by email to register for
your child(ren)’s conferences. Please take the time to register, and if you have any difficulty,
contact our school office at (306)791-7360.
The virtue for the month of October is Thankfulness. Our Grade 1/2 class has led us in prayer
this month . . . and they have been doing a wonderful job! It takes courage to write prayers and
lead everyone in prayer at our daily assemblies. We have so much to be thankful for, and our
grade 1/2 students have modelled this so well. They will lead us in our Thanksgiving Liturgy on
October 15th as well. Thank you, Mrs. Amichand’s class for letting you light shine!
Extra-curricular activities continue to keep our students busy this month! Volleyball season has
begun and our boys’ and girls’ teams have been developed. Mr. Moskowy is coaching our boys’
team and Miss Nelson is coaching our girls’ team. Good luck to all players this season! Ice
Improv has a very busy month, competing in games, and then zone and city championships. Our
team, led by Ms. Dombowsky, has been very successful already and we wish them continued
success as the season comes to a close by the end of October.
In the spirit of Thankfulness . . . I’ll close this message with a few notes of gratitude. First, I’m
thankful to our CSCC, for their many efforts and contributions to our school community. I can
tell that you all truly care for the success and progress of our students, academically, and
socially. Second, I’m thankful for an incredible staff, who truly puts the needs of their students
first. It is easy to see how much they love children and teaching. Finally, I’m thankful to our
students and their families, who make our school community such a vibrant and positive place
Thankfulness is the quickest path to joy.
