 A Message from the Principal

Hello from St. Marguerite Bourgeoys,

I would like to send out a very warm welcome back to our St. Marguerite Bourgeoys families!  I cannot begin to tell you how blessed I feel to be part of your school community.  I am especially looking forward to getting to know our students and families in the upcoming months of school.
We are all eager to begin the 2018-2019 school year with our students academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have such committed and talented staff, who have already been busy planning many school activities for our students to enjoy.
As you have probably noticed, there are many new faces on our team, including my own! Our staff team has been spending time getting to know one another and preparing for the year ahead.  We have decided to start every school day with a short assembly.  During these assemblies, we will sing Oh Canada, pray, share announcements, welcome guests, and celebrate birthdays.  Every month, there will be a focus on one of our Catholic Virtues.  One classroom will be responsible for teaching us about the virtue in a brief lesson, as well as writing prayers to share at our assemblies.  By the end of the school year, every student will have had the opportunity to write and read their virtue based prayer to the school at assembly.  Our Kindergartens will also have this opportunity.  It is wonderful to witness our students lead us in prayer and become an active part in building our faith community. Our Virtue for the month of September is Respect.  Mrs. Dombowsky’s grade 7/8 class will demonstrate the key understandings of Respect to our students during an upcoming assembly.  It is such a fitting time of year to learn more about having respect for ourselves and others.  We encourage you to have conversations with your child(ren) about how they are able to demonstrate respect every day.  We also encourage you to respond positively when you see them do something respectful.  We see such a difference in our students when they receive positive, concrete feedback after they have done something well!

We wish you many blessings during the month of September!
