Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!
We are Regina Catholic Schools. Know, Love, Serve.
It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the discovery of 215 children buried at the Kamloops Residential School. We mourn for all the families broken by this act of hate for an entire culture. We stand with Indigenous communities in Kamloops, across the country, and especially here in Saskatchewan. The Regina Catholic School Division remains committed to Truth and Reconciliation.
How very good and pleasant it is
when kindred live together in unity!
Every June it feels as though the school year has flown by. This year has both flown by, and also crawled past us very slowly. It has been a year unlike any other in Regina Catholic Schools. Our prayers have often focused directly on the pandemic and will continue to until we can reach what our new normal looks like. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey during this tumultuous year.
We are particularly praying for our grade 12 students this month. As they prepare for their last round of course finalizations, we pray for their continue resilience. We ask our Creator to bless them and their families as they transition from high school. Whether they move onto post-secondary education, begin life in the work force, or take some time to discover who they are and what they want from life, we pray for the Lord to bless them as they have blessed us. We know they will continue to Know, Love and Serve their families and communities.
Our grade 8 students are also preparing for a big transition, and we have them in our prayers as they leave their elementary schools at the end of the month and prepare to move to high school in the fall. We know our high schools are ready to receive their newest students, and though they haven't had all the same transition events as previous classes, we know they will be warmly welcomed.
Meanwhile, we prepare for next year. We are excited to welcome new PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students, to welcome back students who chose to spend the last year with Learning Online, and look forward to our staff taking up new posts, or continuing in their current roles. We are working hard to prepare a balanced budget despite knowing we have some uncomfortable decisions ahead, and plan to submit that budget on time at the end of June.
June 24 is the last day of school this year for our high school students, while elementary students have their final day on June 28. May the Lord bless you and keep you safe and healthy over the summer months.
