The Regina Catholic School Division's Board of Trustees passed a motion to make some changes to its transportation services. These changes will allow the Regina Catholic Schools to save about $1,000,000 per year which will help us meet our 2021-2022 budget.
- Our walking boundaries will increase from 1.0 kilometer to 1.2 kilometers by roadway. Moving forward, only students living more than 1.2 kilometers from their school will qualify for transportation services. This applies to all elementary schools beginning September 2021. We will contact impacted families directly in the coming weeks. The practice of allowing medical exemptions will continue.
- First Student will provide transportation services for eligible Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. This includes all customer service for families and schools, such as routing, determining bus stops, and all email and telephone communication. This allows us to focus on education, and First Student to focus on transportation.
- Our Transportation website will provide updates over the summer.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation. You can expect to see resources for reminding students about pedestrian safety on our school websites, as well as a safety campaign beginning in late August to encourage drivers to maintain safety.
