  • Open House/Meet the Teacher Night – held on Wednesday, September 11th (approx. 40 families in attendance)
  • School Picture Day – Thursday, September 12th  (organized locally to ensure cost effectiveness)
  • School Photo – St. Michael t-shirts were distributed and photo was taken on the morning of Wednesday, September 25th  
  • School Mass and Kindergarten Welcome – Wednesday, September 25th @ Our Lady of Peace Parish
  • Youth Liturgical Leadership Program – Four students and Mrs. McCann attended session 1 of 5 Sept. 26th
  • Truth and Reconciliation Recommitment Liturgy – Friday, September 27th @ assembly
  • Our Lady of Peace Educators' Commissioning Mass – held Sunday, September 29th – attended by St. Michael, St. Gregory, and O'Neill High School staff members, pancake breakfast followed
  • Orange Shirt Day – recognized province-wide, school liturgy was held on Monday, September 30th and attended by our Area Superintendent, Mrs. Stacey Gherasim; specially designed orange shirts were distributed to all staff and students on this day

            Literacy and Numeracy

  • ELA and Math Assessments – Initial assessments in reading, writing, and Math were completed throughout September to inform planning and instruction for the year
  • Reading Blitz – Friday, September 27th from 2-3:00 pm

    Equitable Opportunities and Transitions

  • MADD SmartWheels Presentation – Friday, September 13th (Grades 4-6/7) to bring awareness and understanding of issues arising from drug and alcohol use
  • Mindfulness Group – Monday, September 16th – occurring bi-weekly to build leadership and develop skills in our younger students, led by Mrs. McCann
  • Mushom Gerry – working in our school every Tuesday afternoon for the entire school year
  • Beading Class  Five week program began on Tuesday, September 17th (under direction of Mrs. Zuck)
  • Seven Sacred Teachings – overview provided by Elder Hazel on Thursday, September 19th  
  • Speech and Language Pathologist (Mrs. Webb) – 6 week block began on Monday, September 23rd
  • Intro to the Sacred Teaching of Wisdom – Wednesday, October 2nd @ assembly
  • Speech and Language Pathologist (Mrs. Thurman) in Pre K Room – Wednesday, October 2nd (am)

             Essential Skills and Practices in 21st Century Education

  • Football – Opportunity offered to our Grade 6/7/8 students under the direction of Ms. Fischer and Ms. Mahoney
  • Emergency Procedures – 3 Fire Drills, 1 Rear Door Bus Evacuation Drill, 1 Reverse Evacuation Drill, and 1 Lockdown Drill successfully completed in September
  • Grade 7/8 Leadership Team Planning Meeting  Friday, September 13th (Ms. Fischer: lead teacher)
  • Cross Country Meet – Thursday, September 19th – Canada Games Athletic Complex
