Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!
This month as Advent begins, so too does a new liturgical calendar. We now enter Year C, and four weeks of reflection and waiting.
The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: "The Lord is our righteousness." Jeremiah 33:14-16
November brought a change to our Board of Trustees. We thank outgoing Chair Rob Bresciani for his leadership over the past year. Our new Chair is Bob Kowalchuk, and our new Deputy Chair is Donna Ziegler. May the Lord bless all those who lead in our school division.
Thank you to all elementary school families who participated in our Student-Led Conferences and Celebrations of Learning in November. We pray the goals set are attainable for all our students. The great turnout is a good example of knowing how important parental involvement is for our students. We are participating in the Attendance Matters movement as we encourage all families to focus on education and the importance of being at school.
We thank God for the gift of Mother Mary's trust, and His Son Christ Jesus, the ultimate Christmas gift. We know and appreciate how blessed we are to have the gift of Catholic Education and to be able to share the anticipation of Jesus' birth throughout our schools.
December brings about a flurry of activity in our schools. From Advent liturgies and Masses to Christmas concerts, and service projects, we are grateful to our staff and families for the extra time shared with our school communities. Please enjoy the Christmas break coming up. The last day of school is Friday, December 21, 2018, and we look forward to our students returning refreshed and ready to learn on Monday, January 7, 2019.
God's hope to direct me.
God's love to surround me.
God's joy to warm me.
God's peace to comfort me.
