Reading Contest/Concours de lecture

St. Pius School is once again promoting reading in French & English.

We are offering an incentive to our students to help improve their French literacy skills by offering prizes for those who read at home.

Kindergarten to Grade 8 students are encouraged to read at home
in order to participate in our school contest.
All French reading outside of school counts; reading independently or having an adult read to them.

*Kinder – Grade 8:  For every 30 minutes read in French, they may fill out 2 tickets.

For every 45 minutes read in English, they may fill out 1 ticket.

The students will have their LIRE EN FRANCAIS log to track their reading minutes.  Parents are to sign the reading log each time the student has read.  Once they have completed & handed in 30 or 45 minutes log the student will be given tickets by the classroom teacher, which the student will place in the ballot box for the prize that they wish to win.

These prizes and ballot boxes will be on display in the upper hallway:

  • Kinder to Grade 3 students-3 prizes PLUS a GRAND prize of:

$100 Gift Card to Southland Mall!

  • Grade 4 to 8 students-3 prizes PLUS a GRAND prize of:

$100 Gift Card to Southland Mall!

Our LIRE EN FRANCAIS contest will begin on Monday, February 5th
and will run until Monday, March 26th, 9 A.M.

We are looking forward to our students improving their French reading skills
over the next month.  And yes, Guided Reading counts as well as being read to by an adult or older sibling. Happy Reading!!
