Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

Welcome back to school! We're so happy to begin another year of learning, praising God, and growing together.

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."  Matthew 18:20

The start of a new year is always exciting, and the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year is no different. We're looking forward to welcoming students back for another ten months of learning and growing in the grace of God.

As we await the decision of the Theodore Court Case Appeal, our advocacy continues. The website and SCSBA (Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association) Facebook page are now active. Please continue to share your good news stories. Testimonials from parents/students, and stories about why parents choose to send their children to our schools have great impact. Submissions may be made through your school, which in turn will be received at the Board Office. Accompanying photos and videos are always welcome.

The Saskatchewan School Boards Association (SSBA) is highlighting student safety on September 3 as young people across the province prepare to begin a new year of learning. The annual proclamation of Provincial Students' Day helps to remind drivers that children and youth are back in school and that extra care for their safety is important.

A reminder to all drivers that there are some changes to school zones beginning this month. Notably, the speed limit has dropped to 30 kilometers per hour, and U-turns are no longer legal. Please remember to keep an extra eye out for children during these first weeks of school. The kids are always very excited about seeing friends after the summer break, and we want to maintain their safety at all times. Thank you for respecting these changes and protecting our students and staff.

On September 30, students are encouraged to participate in "Orange Shirt Day" by wearing orange and reflecting on residential schools. Orange Shirt Day is officially proclaimed on Sept. 30 each year and is part of a larger movement in the country to provide opportunity for First Nations, governments, schools and communities to unite in a spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

The Lord does not perform wonders with those who believe themselves to be just, but with those who know they are in need and are willing to open their hearts to Him. ~ Pope Francis
