Why does the division charge a noon supervision fee?
The noon supervision fee partially offsets the costs of supervising students over the noon break, which falls outside of regular instructional time. Staff are paid extra to supervise students during this period.
Which students are required to pay the noon supervision fee for the 2025-2026 school year?
Elementary students who stay at lunch on a regular or part-time basis:
- Kindergarten students $40
- Grade 1-8 students $80
- Families with multiple children will not pay more than $160 in elementary school noon supervision fees
All high school students:
- $25 per student per year
- Families with multiple children pay this fee for each high school student
Which students are not required to pay the noon supervision fee?
- Elementary students who go home every day for lunch
- Students attending schools with adjusted school days (Sacred Heart, St. Augustine, St. Francis, St. Luke, St. Raphael, and St. Faustina)
- Students in Elementary Intensive Support Classrooms (EISC)
If my child starts mid-year or moves from another division, do I still pay the full fee?
Yes. The full-year fee applies to all students who stay for lunch, regardless of when they start at the school.
What if my child moves to another RCSD school during the year?
You will not pay a second noon supervision fee in the same school year.
Do I need to pay if my child only stays at school for special lunch days (like Pizza Day)?
No. If your child usually goes home for lunch and only stays on special lunch days, you do not need to pay the fee.
If my child volunteers to help with noon hour supervision, do I still have to pay?
Yes. Even with student helpers, a staff member must be present and paid. The fee still applies.
If my high school child doesn't stay for lunch, do I still pay the full fee?
Yes. The high school fee applies to all high school students, regardless of whether they stay for lunch. Student safety measures are in place based on the overall school population, and we must staff appropriately.
Can I pay by cash or cheque instead of using SchoolCash Online?
We strongly encourage all families to register for SchoolCash Online. However, if you choose not to, you may pay by cash or cheque at the school office.
