Application Process:

The high performance stream will be application based, reviewed by program directors John Sonntag and Shawn Stieb. Those accepted into High Performance will be involved in the below program. Those who apply for High Performance, and are not successful in their application will be grouped in the Sport For Life stream of the program. These applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and capped on per section registration.

High Performance Program Application Purpose

The purpose of this application is to identify student-athletes who are committed to excelling both academically and athletically. The High Performance program is designed for those who demonstrate a strong dedication to their education and to pursuing hockey at a competitive level beyond high school.

This process is not intended to eliminate students from our programs, but to ensure appropriate placement based on commitment and goals. Students not selected for High Performance will be enrolled in the Sport for Life stream, which provides a strong hockey experience without the same competitive demands.

High Performance features an online academic component in both semesters, while Sport for Life is delivered entirely in-person by academy teachers. This distinction reflects the differing intensity and expectations of each stream.

Our goal is to foster like-minded groups within both programs and support each student’s development, whether their aspirations lie in elite competition or lifelong participation in the sport. We look forward to working with all students in their chosen paths.

Students enrolled in the academy will be supported in their home schools in regular classes for half the day. The half day spent in academy will provide course electives in high performance physed other core course offerings. Catholic Studies will be taught face to face, but other electives will be provided through Regina Learning Online in a tutorial classroom with direct teacher support. High School counselors will work with each student's timetable to ensure on-track credit acquisition and the best academic fits within their schedule.
