Daily Prayer - December 2
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
We continue the first week in Advent, focusing on our purple candle that represents HOPE.
In ancient times, the Hebrew people were waiting many long years for the Messiah – for Jesus. That is why this candle of HOPE can also be referred to as a time to “wait”.
So why are we still waiting for Jesus? Didn’t he come already? Wasn’t he born in a stable in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago? Well – YES he did, and we WILL celebrate that wonderful event on Christmas Day.
But right now, we have work to do.
Advent is a special time for each of us to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Jesus. Let’s not put it off one more minute. I ask you this morning, is there someone you need to apologize to for something you said or did?
Jesus tells us about the importance of forgiveness. Saying “I’m sorry” takes courage but it gives us HOPE for a better tomorrow.
Tomorrow will be better after we say, “I’m sorry”, to those we have hurt.
Jesus also tells us we need to learn to forgive the people who have hurt us. Is there anyone you need to forgive for hurting you? If there is someone you need to forgive, today is the day to do it.
This is the work we need to do today for God.
Say “I’m sorry” and forgive others who have hurt you.
We pray:
Jesus, thank you for walking with me today as I work on saying “I’m sorry” and forgiving others. Fill my heart, Lord Jesus, with HOPE and LOVE today.
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
